Bukayo Saka names one thing that disappointed him despite Arsenal win - 'Did you see them'

Bukayo Saka delivered a scathing assessment of his own "rubbish" corner-taking despite Arsenal clinching a 1-0 victory over Fulham.

The Gunners triumphed at Craven Cottage courtesy of Leandro Trossard's strike in the 58th minute. It was a massive result for Mikel Arteta'sside, as Manchester City moved to the top of thePremier League with a 2-0 victory over Everton, just before kick off in west London.

The 1-0 victory over Fulham ensured Arsenal maintained their position at the Premier League summit. While there was plenty to celebrate, Saka also admitted there was a lot in his performance he was not pleased with.

In his post-match interview for Sky Sports, the winger reflected on set-pieces, saying: "We have some big guys in the box. At the start of the game, I took some rubbish corners.

"I was quite disappointed. I kept going, and I think this [the one that Trossard converted] is the fourth one. I put it in, and it was a nice delivery. Gabriel got the touch, and Leo got the goal, so I'm very happy with that. Did you not see them?"

The 24-year-old also expressed his frustration after a penalty awarded in his favour was overturned following a VAR review. Referee Anthony Taylor initially pointed to the spot when Kevin brought down Saka inside the area, deeming the Fulham player had committed a foul.

Upon examining replay footage, however, Taylor concluded Kevin had made slight contact with the ball as Saka cut inside, leading him to overturn his original call. Explaining his verdict, Taylor stated: "After review, number 22 [Kevin] makes a challenge and plays the ball, therefore, no foul is committed. No penalty, restart with a drop ball from the goalkeeper."

Meanwhile, the Premier League Match Centre posted on X: "After VAR review, the referee overturned the original decision of penalty to Arsenal."

Arsenal took the lead in the second half through Trossard, who was perfectly positioned to convert Saka's corner, which had been deflected by Gabriel. The Gunners appeared to have full control of the match thereafter - despite Fulham's late push to salvage at least a point.

Fulham manager, Marco Silva, expressed his frustrations post-match to Sky Sports, when he said: "I really believe that we did prepare ourselves very well in that moment, and as you say, most of the time we did it very well. We blocked, we knew that the way they came to block ourselves.

"We wanted to block that strong run and power run from Gabriel most of the time. I really believe that path can't be open. Most of the game we did control well the inside path for him to run in the direction of the goal.

"That moment [Ryan] Sessegnon opened out a bit more, he went in the way and you see how high that he can jump. In that moment, the flick at the front post killed us a little bit on the far post with the touch from Trossard.

"Blocking better the run from Gabriel was a key for us to control, because that we did control most of the time. That situation is a frustration for us because the first 30 minutes it was very good from ourselves. The possession, we kept them away, we didn't let them play in the area - or to create a pass to do it."
