AirAsia has issued a travel advisory as Malaysia prepares to celebrate its 68th National Day on September 16.The Kuala Lumpur airspace will be temporarily closed during the National Day flypast and rehearsals, affecting flights from August 26 to 28 (11 am to 12 pm) and August 29 and 31 (8:45 am to 9:45 am).
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said in an official statement that the closures are necessary to ensure the safety of the public and participating aircraft. Passengers can expect increased air traffic and possible adjustments to commercial flight schedules.
AirAsia advised travellers to plan ahead, check in early, and use the AirAsia 'MOVE' app for real-time flight updates. The app allows passengers to check in from 14 days up to one hour before departure, upload visa documents, and access e-boarding passes.
Special assistance such as wheelchair service must be pre-booked at least four hours before departure. Counter check-in is limited to passengers with reduced mobility, infants under 24 months, pregnant women, senior citizens, and unaccompanied minors.
Passengers are advised by the airline to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. Baggage can be tagged via kiosks using QR codes, and cabin baggage rules limit each passenger to one bag (56 x 36 x 23 cm) plus a laptop or handbag, with a combined weight of 7 kg.
Malaysian passport holders can use the 'MyBorderPass' app at KLIA Terminal 2 for faster immigration processing.
