Hindustan Unilever ( HUL) announced price cuts across its consumer product range, including Dove shampoo, Horlicks, Kissan Jam, Bru Coffee, Lux and Lifebuoy Soaps, effective September 22 following reforms in Goods and Service Tax (GST).
In an advertisement in newspapers, the company said that a 340 ml bottle of Dove shampoo will now cost Rs 435, down from Rs 490. A 200 gm jar of Horlicks has been reduced to Rs 110 from Rs 130, while 200 gm of Kissan Jam will sell for Rs 80, down from Rs 90. Further, a pack of four 75 gm Lifebuoy soaps will also see a price drop to Rs 60 from Rs 68.
The company said that the new stock with fresh maximum retail price (MRP) or increased quantity will reach the market soon.
The move comes after the government mandated that companies publish newspaper advertisements to notify consumers about price revisions.
