Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Professor Chandrashekhar is not only counted among the strong faces of the Grand Alliance, but he is also among the close leaders of Tejashwi Yadav.

In view of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has nominated outgoing MLA Professor Chandrashekhar from Madhepura. He is filing his nomination for the fourth time. During his nomination, he provided complete details of his and his wife's assets. He filed an income tax return of ₹26.73 lakh for the financial year 2024-25.
Professor Chandrashekhar owns 80 grams of gold worth ₹8 lakh, while his wife owns 300 grams of gold worth ₹30 lakh. He also owns a licensed rifle worth ₹65,000 and two luxury cars.
Professor Chandrashekhar is not only considered a strong face of the Grand Alliance but also a close associate of Tejashwi Yadav. It is being said that Chandrashekhar has been fielded keeping in mind local equations and caste balance.
How much property does Professor Chandrashekhar own?
Chandrashekhar has movable assets worth Rs 32.33 lakh, while his wife has assets worth Rs 1.64 crore. Among immovable assets, Chandrashekhar owns 3 acres 30 decimals of agricultural land in Bhelwa (valued at Rs 64 lakh) and a 1,200-square-foot house at Danapur Saguna More in Patna (valued at Rs 70 lakh). Consequently, his total immovable assets are worth Rs 1.15 crore, and movable assets are worth Rs 32.35 lakh. According to the affidavit, Chandrashekhar took out a house loan of Rs 50 lakh in 2014, while his wife has a house loan of Rs 35 lakh in 2025.
Case for inciting religious sentiments
Chandrashekhar completed his post-graduation from Kanpur University in 1985 and currently serves as an assistant professor. His wife is a retired teacher. He has seven criminal cases registered against him, including four related to hurting religious sentiments (controversial statements about the Ramcharitmanas and Sanatan Dharma) and three related to protests.
