The 2025 Big Brothercontestants have not even spent a week in the house, but already tensions are rising on the inside. The latest batch of participants for the 22nd season has been living together since last Sunday, with firm friendships forming almost instantly.
Caroline Monk was left devastated on Friday when Gani Kahn became the second contestant to get evicted from the Big Brother house, as they had bonded quickly. But it seems the friendship that blossomed between Marcus John, 22, and Elsa Rae, 21, has soured.
In scenes that aired via ITV on Sunday night's highlights show, Big Brother fans saw awkward moments between the duo, with an argument building across the length of a day. Having taken an immediate attraction to each other, things turned awkward as Elsa and Marcus noticed there had been a change between them.

Marcus asks his younger housemate: “What are you thinking, Elsa?” Prompting her to respond: “I’m thinking I really like you as my friend. And I don’t want to lose that. I don’t want to lose our friendship.”
Marcus agrees he doesn't want to see their friendship deteriorate too, but this seems set to happen regardless. Elsa suggests that they swap beds to have a little more space, which Marcus agrees to. But then Elsa comments: “I feel like you’ve been weird the past two days. You’ve been distant.”
Marcus then protests: “I’ve spent more time with you than anyone else in here. You’re just looking for problems." However, this is then just the tip of the iceberg as tensions increased throughout the day - with Elsa left in tears after she and Marcus had argued over their sleeping arrangements.
Viewers have been left convinced that the tension all relates to a forced romance that the pair are undertaking. One unconvinced fan commented on X: "I think Marcus and Elsa would’ve both suited going on love island more than big brother. All the other romances from the past few series seemed to grow organically, this feels soooo forced and rushed #bbuk."
Another agreed, writing: "Why do I feel like Elsa has accidentally applied for the wrong show this type of desperation belongs on Love Island, not Big Brother. #BBUK."
Elsewhere in the house, Caroline is seen struggling to adapt to a house without Gani. Taking to the diary room, she admits that she is missing the evicted housemate.
She confesses to Big Brother: “I’ve never had a friendship like that, with even a guy, let alone anyone else. I just feel for him as he wanted this more than anybody."
She went on to suggest she will miss him greatly. She commented: "He was just like my shadow. I feel like one magpie has lost the other one.”
Gani had a dramatic exit on Friday night as Storm Amy brought chaos to the live eviction. Host AJ Odudu and Will Best hosted the event from inside, as they would usually present in the outdoors.
But as powerful winds battered the UK, the presenters sought refuge in the Big Brother studio. Gani was also forced to exit the house through the back door as the hazardous weather conditions disrupted the usual eviction process.
During his time in the house, the contestant - originally from Chennai, in India - stunned his housemates when he revealed he had been forced into an arranged marriage by his parents. Opening up about his personal life, he revealed that he had been investigating his bisexuality when his parents made a choice about his life for him.
He told Jenny Baird, 20, "From 2022 to 2024, I was literally enjoying and exploring bisexuality. And then at the end of 2023, December 2023, my dad all of a sudden was like, 'Gani, how long are you not gonna be married. Come on, please marry, why are you doing this?'
"And I was like, 'No, I don't want to get married, blah, blah, blah''. Then my dad asked me [to get married] and I couldn't say no."
He then revealed: "That is how I got married in January 2024 with my cousin."
Big Brother airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
