MAFS star Georges Berthonneau claims Celebs Go Dating bosses snubbed him from show

A Married At First Sight UK star has claimed he was banned from appearing on Celebs Go Dating, despite pleas for him to do so.

Georges Berthonneau has revealed he was not welcomed on Celebs Go Dating, despite begging producers to give him a chance.

The reality star, who is known for appearing on the 2023 series of MAFS, said he was eager to go on the celebrity Channel 4 dating show. But according to Georges, he was quickly knocked back.

“I would be brilliant on a show like that,” he told The Sun. “I did Celebs Go Dating years ago, but they’re not interested. They said they’re not interested. They don’t want anyone from MAFS, they only wanted Ella [Morgan].”

Georges, 31, claimed bosses refused to even hear him out when he suggested he’d make compelling television.

“You’re missing out on a trick here,” he said. “You can show previous footage from before of me being young. Like, no one’s ever done that. You would have such a different story.”

He continued: “'No, you went on MAFS. No, you went on MAFS, we’re not interested, we’ve had MAFS.' Okay, cool. Your loss.”

Georges previously appeared on Celebs Go Dating back in 2018, where he was paired up with TOWIE favourite Chloe Sims. Despite his recent rejection from E4 bosses, the reality star insists he would jump at the chance to take part in another romantic series.

“I would [do it] within a heartbeat,” he said. “Because there aren’t enough genuine blokes on the telly anymore. I don’t look like any of them. They’ve all got tattoos, they’ve all got fake teeth, they all have handbags. They all have six-packs, they’re all skinny, they’re all this, they’re all that. I am so different. Like, I’m actually interesting, I actually have chat.”

Georges' marriage to Peggy Rose from his stint on MAFS ended in heartbreak just months after the cameras stopped rolling. Peggy later claimed their relationship crumbled as Georges became increasingly obsessed with fame.

Last October, she took a jab at her former hubby, saying: “Boys like attention, especially when boys haven’t had the attention before. I feel they get a bit big headed.”

The couple split at the start of 2024, when Peggy accused Georges of cheating after receiving messages showing him on dates with another woman.

According to Peggy, she became suspicious when he was not interested in intimacy during a romantic getaway in Paris. They split up at the end of January 2024, and shortly after that, the Kent local was contacted by a girl who provided her with 'evidence' that Georges had gone on dates with someone else in December 2023.

At the time she said: “I was heartbroken. I remember crying my eyes out.” Georges denied the allegations, claiming that it was Peggy’s behaviour during their marriage that drove him away.

“I never cheated on her,” he insisted. “It was her actions that pushed me away – gaslighting, manipulation, constantly putting me down. It’s boring now.”
