The 25-year-old Louisiana influencer, who has over 215,000 Instagram followers, said she was forced to speak out after the false story went viral. On November 5, she posted a video on her Instagram page saying she wanted to “clear things up” because “everyone had seen” the post.
“I’d like to address some of the fake news that has been going around about me,” Tubre said. “Recently, there was an article on Facebook saying I was having an affair with Garrett Nussmeier and that we were seen entering a hotel room together. I was hoping it would go away. Spoiler alert, everyone saw it.” She added that her phone “blew up” and strangers even reached out to her family.
Tubre shuts down fake screenshots and second rumor
A few days later, another false story appeared online, this time claiming that Garrett Nussmeier sent her unwanted photos. That article also went viral on Facebook, but Tubre quickly denied it.
She said clearly in her video:
“Somebody sent me another article saying Garrett sent me unsolicited photos that made me uncomfortable. I posted screenshots on social media, which, if you follow me, you know I didn’t. It’s all fake. It’s just fake.”
The influencer said she never shared any private screenshots and that both articles were completely made up. She called the stories “hurtful lies” and asked people to stop spreading false information.
So far, Garrett Nussmeier, who got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Ella Springfield earlier this year, has not made any public comment about the rumors.
The untrue claims have sparked debate among fans online, with many saying people should stop believing random internet posts. Others have praised Peighton Tubre for speaking up and clearing her name.
